July 4th Buying Guide

The Fourth is when every NyTex store across North Texas and the DFW area is open and the shelves are full. This page is our July 4th season page: the dates and hours below come straight from our store schedule and are updated each year.

01

Shop early in the window

Sales start June 24. The best selection is the first weekend, and the most popular 500-gram cakes can sell out by July 3. Come early for the best pick of the shelves; the McKinney superstore carries our widest range.

02

What to buy for a crowd

A party of 20 or more wants a 20-minute show with a loud finale. Build around two or three 500-gram cakes, an artillery kit per 5 minutes, and fountains to cover reloads. Our backyard show planner has clearances and budgets.

Red, white and blue effects are everywhere in July. Our staff can point you to cakes with crackle and strobe finishes that photograph better than solid color.

03

Heat and dry grass

July in Texas means dry grass and possible burn bans. Wet down the launch area and 20 feet around it before you start. Check your county's burn ban status the week of the Fourth. Then take the show out to private land outside city limits, with the owner's OK; see where to shoot in Collin County and where to shoot near Fort Worth for ideas.
